Brandwatch

For more general information on data collection in Redbird, check out: Getting Started With Data Collection

This guide explains how to set up access and collect data from the Brandwatch platform which collects social media metrics. You can extract this data in Redbird by either selecting queries or uploading your own from a file.

If you cannot see the Brandwatch collection app in the left-side panel on the workflow canvas, refer to: Enabling Collection Apps Guide



Inputting Credentials

  1. Click the person icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the page
  2. Click Account Settings
  3. Click Apps
  4. Navigate to Brandwatch
  5. Click on the settings cog associated with Brandwatch
  6. Input the credentials




  1. Click Done



Creating a Collection

  1. Double-click on the node to enter configuration mode
  2. Enter the collection name in the textbox next to Configuration Name




  1. Select the Brandwatch project name that you want to extract data from

  2. Use the options below to either upload a query from a file or select one that is populated in Brandwatch.

    1. If you have Brandwatch queries you wish to upload through Redbird, select the button next to Upload queries from file? to enable this option

      1. Select Choose File to upload a query file from your computer

        Note:

        If you need an example to see how you should format your file, select File Format next to the Upload button.

      2. Select Upload

    2. If you do not have a query file, select the Query name that you want to run from the dropdown

  3. Use the left to right pickers in the filters section to filter the whole output dataset to include or exclude specific:

    1. Locations
    2. Languages
    3. Content Sources
    4. Sentiments
  4. The Update Method allows you to select how you want your data to aggregate when you run future data pulls. Append keeps the historical data and adds the future data pulls below. Replace deletes the historical data and generates the new data in its place. Create New generates a new configuration with the new data pull.

  5. Initial Data Load allows you to upload historical data in bulk as a one-off in the event that you have the data saved on your computer. You can upload your data as a CSV file with no leading/trailing rows or columns and Redbird will run future data collections using the configuration that you set up in previous steps.



  1. Click Done



Running a Collection


  1. Click on the node.
  2. In the right-side panel click Run
  3. If date selection is set to manual, then the workflow will be stopped for you to input dates. Click Review on the node.
  4. Select the Start date and End date of the period you would like to cover.
  5. Click Back to Workflow
  6. Click Continue on the node.
